Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority Hosts Economic Development Day for Leadership Macon Class

Event Highlights Industry Recruitment in Macon and MCBIA’s Role

Macon, GA — The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) hosted the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Macon Class today for an educational outing focusing on the latest growth in the region. The Economic Development Day featured industry tours and a presentation on the growth and recruitment happening in and around Macon. MBCIA invited the Leadership Macon Class to learn about the importance of strategic development that brings both business and jobs to a community.

“We are excited to host the Leadership Macon Class for Economic Development Day again this year,” said Eleyce Coleman, Existing Industry Manager at MBCIA. “This is a great opportunity for our emerging leaders to learn about the inner workings of economic development in Macon-Bibb County and how they can be involved in making our community even stronger.”

The Economic Development Day began early with tours of businesses located at Middle Georgia Regional Airport and Sofkee Industrial Park. Additionally, a formal presentation provided dynamic examples of existing and new industries that have brought major companies to Macon. “These companies are attracted to the competitive business environment and local vendor programs that assist new industries of all sizes through MBCIA’s partnerships”, shared Stephen Adams, Executive Director of MBCIA.​

Other highlights of the Leadership Macon Class detailed the robust family and social life that Macon-Bibb County offers and initiatives like the Macon Bright Program, a program that incentivizes private developers and building owners to renovate and repurpose deteriorated properties.

The MBCIA is committed to attracting new businesses and industries to Macon-Bibb County and helping existing businesses grow and succeed. Economic Development Day provided an opportunity for the Leadership Macon Class to learn about the important work that MCBIA does to make Macon-Bibb County a leader in economic development and retention.
