The Mentor’s Project of Bibb County Hosts Kids’ Tour Day at Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED
Educates Youth on Future Job Opportunities with Local Industries
Macon, GA — The Mentor’s Project of Bibb County hosted a Kid’s Tour Day at Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED (CCBCU) today, where youth from the region learned more about the company, what it does, as well as future career opportunities through the event. The in-person experience included a presentation from Coca-Cola Bottling management that provided the kids with a fun environment to ask questions and hear from young professionals at the facility.
The Kid’s Tour Day was the first of its kind for The Mentor’s Project of Bibb County and was made possible through a partnership with the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA). “We are happy to partner with the MBCIA to offer this opportunity to our local youth,” said June O’Neal, Executive Director of The Mentor’s Project of Bibb County. “We believe that it is important for kids to see the long-term possibilities that exist for them in our community. We hope that interacting with young adults who they can relate to will inspire them to pursue their dreams.”
The Mentor’s Project provides role models for encouragement and motivation to eligible Bibb County Public Middle and High School students who need additional support outside their family, and to assist them in reaching their full academic, social, and personal potential.
“Watching the kids enjoy themselves while being exposed to new environments made my day,” shared Eddie Cummins, Sales Center Manager of CCBCU. “Especially when they tried a new drink flavor not yet available to the public. The room was full of smiles and laughter.”
Today’s excursion shed light on the types of local jobs youth in the area can explore and cultivated meaningful connections with young professionals who work at the bottling plant.

About The Mentor’s Project of Bibb County
The Education Committee of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce initiated The Mentor’s Project in 1990. Now a separate nonprofit agency governed by a board of directors, The Mentor’s Project of Bibb County’s Mission provides role models for encouragement and motivation to eligible Bibb County Public Middle and High School students who need additional support outside their family, and to assist them in reaching their full academic, social, and personal potential.
The Mentor’s Project is unique in that mentors stay with their protégé through high school graduation. This long-term commitment prevents students from reverting back to negative behaviors and to ensure that their protégé graduates with a post-secondary plan in mind.
