Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority Celebrates Grand Opening of Agile Cold Storage Facility

 Operations Expand to Macon with Company’s Fourth Cold Storage Warehouse in Georgia

 

MACON, Ga. — Today, the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) announces the grand opening of Agile Cold Storage, marking the inauguration of the company’s fourth facility in Georgia. This project introduces 110 new jobs and injects $150 million into the local economy, reinforcing Agile’s commitment to serving the Southeast region and supporting its position as an industry leader in temperature-controlled storage solutions.

The grand opening ceremony included remarks from Don Schoenl, president and CEO of Agile Cold Storage, Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller, and MBCIA leadership. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art 275,000 square foot multi-temp storage facility, which showcased Agile Cold Storage’s commitment to excellence in cold storage technologies.

“Agile Cold Storage is making a great investment in our people and our community, and I want to personally welcome them to Team Macon-Bibb,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “This facility helps increase our job base, strengthen the economy of our region, and further makes us a hub for industry and commerce.”

The Macon facility integrates advanced automation and industry best practices to ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency. Equipped to handle a wide range of perishable goods, including food and pharmaceuticals, the facility offers comprehensive services encompassing receiving, storage, import/export, distribution, and shipping of client products.
“We are proud to establish our presence in Macon, Georgia, with the opening of our latest facility, strategically located at the heart of the state with convenient access to both I-16 and the bustling I-75 corridor,” said Don Schoenl. “This project represents Agile’s first multi-model solution allowing customers to ship via truck, rail, or containers to or from our facility. Our customers have been looking for better ways to import and export products in Savannah and to distribute products into Florida and the rest of the Southeast.”
