The Macon-Bibb County consolidated government and the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) announced that Stevens Aerospace and Defense Systems will bring large-cabin aircraft operations to the Middle Georgia Regional Airport. The announcement took place during the pre-commission meeting Tuesday evening.
The company will be opening a base of operations in a 48,000 sq. ft. vacant facility at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport. This partnership represents $1,000,000 in private investment and will create up to 150 new jobs with an average pay of $28 per hour. The company has committed to a three-year lease agreement with two five-year options.
Stevens Aerospace and Defense Systems is a leading aircraft maintenance provider based out of Greenville, SC, with significant maintenance operations there, in Nashville, TN, and in Dayton, OH. Stevens also maintains thirteen satellite operations throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
Neal McGrail, Stevens’ CFO said, “Stevens’ space requirements have surpassed the 200,000 square feet we occupy in Greenville. We were happy to find, in Macon, an excellent hangar with enough square footage in which to base our large-cabin business. We anticipate growing a significant business at this location.”
