MACON, Ga. — The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) brought together local representatives from the Macon Water Authority and Board of Education, as well as elected officials, for an up-close look at the positive economic impact various industries are having in and around the county.

Today’s tour focused on several industrial parks owned and managed by the MBCIA, highlighting the growing investment the region has seen thanks to relocation and expansion projects by national and global industries and corporations.

The group of 10 visited I-75 Business Park, the Middle Georgia Regional Airport Industrial Park, Sofkee Industrial Park, Allied Industrial Park, and Ocmulgee Industrial Park. Businesses found within these parks represent 67 different industries that employ nearly 15,000 individuals. Companies such as Amazon, GEICO, Dean Baldwin, Brightfarms, Lintech International, Nichiha, Agile Cold Storage, Dixon Ticonderoga Company, Freudenberg Performance Materials, and Kumho Tire are vital contributors to the region’s industrial and economic footprint.

“We started doing these bus tours as a way to connect more directly with our community partners who want to stay apprised of the growth we’re spurring here in Macon-Bibb County,” said Stephen Adams, Executive Director of the MBCIA. “It’s proven to be a great tool for sharing detailed information about the investments and jobs that companies have been committing to our area.”
