Radius Recycling Expands in Macon with Georgia’s First Advanced Aluminum Separation Facility

“Radius Recycling’s investment in Macon strengthens our commitment to innovation and sustainability in Georgia,” said Pedro Orbezo, Vice President of Metals Technology at Radius Recycling. “With this new advanced aluminum separation system, we’re excited to enhance our capabilities and contribute to a circular economy that benefits both our industry and the communities we serve.”

The new $11 million, 32,000-square-foot facility includes state-of-the-art processing and storage features, two extended rail spurs, a modern stormwater retention pond, and enhanced paving, marking a significant investment in Georgia’s recycling infrastructure. As Radius Recycling expands operations, we’re actively hiring to support this growth, creating new job opportunities for local residents.

As the first facility in Georgia to use advanced aluminum separation technology, Radius Recycling’s Macon site will help meet the growing demand for sustainable aluminum products in industries like automotive manufacturing. Processing millions of pounds of recycled aluminum monthly, this facility will position Macon as a hub for nonferrous metal recycling, supporting both domestic and export markets through its proximity to Georgia’s ports.

Through partnerships with the MBCIA, Macon Water Authority, and Georgia Central Railroad, local infrastructure improvements have also been made to streamline access and increase transportation efficiency for the new facility.

“We are thrilled to welcome Radius Recycling’s expanded operations to Macon-Bibb County,” added Mayor Lester M. Miller. “As part of our Blueprint for a Renewed Macon-Bibb County, we prioritize economic development that generates jobs and opportunities. Radius Recycling’s commitment to growth and sustainability is a vital step in positioning our community as a leader in Georgia’s industrial landscape.”

Macon-Bibb County is the ideal location for Radius Recycling’s expansion. With its central position, strong transportation infrastructure, and a robust labor market, Macon offers everything we need to succeed. We are grateful to the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority and local leadership for their support in bringing this project to fruition.
