In 2019, Irving Tissue marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of its state-of-the-art $470-million tissue plant in Macon, Georgia. At the grand opening event that celebrated the initial investment, Phase II was announced, resulting in an additional $400-million investment, doubling the plant’s capacity.
The announcement took place at the Macon plant, where Irving Tissue President Robert K. Irving, alongside esteemed guests such as Georgia Lieutenant-Governor Geoff Duncan,
Macon-Bibb County Mayor Robert Reichert, MCBIA Chairman Robert Fountain Jr., and other dignitaries, celebrated the plant’s official opening and Irving Tissue’s continued commitment to investing in the local community.
Situated in the Sofkee Industrial Park on Allen Road, the Irving Tissue plant initially employed over 200 people. Specializing in producing ultra-premium quality household paper products, including soft bath tissue and high-quality paper towels known for their strength and absorbency, the facility has become a cornerstone of the region.
The completion of Phase II in January 2022 further solidified Irving Tissue’s presence in Macon, and the expansion resulted in the creation of an additional 150 jobs. Aligned with Irving Tissue’s commitment to quality, production capabilities were enhanced with the addition of a second ThruAir Dry machine.
