NewCold continues the legacy of one of Macon-Bibb County’s major food logistics investments.

Originally announced as a Tyson Foods expansion, the project brought a $59 million investment to I-75 Business Park in Macon and included a 152,000-square-foot addition to the existing distribution center. The expansion added more than 100 jobs and strengthened Macon-Bibb’s role as a strategic hub for food distribution across the Southeast. Tyson’s original announcement also noted that the facility served retail and foodservice customers across Georgia, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Today, the facility operates as NewCold, continuing the site’s focus on temperature-controlled food logistics and reinforcing Macon-Bibb’s position as a strong location for advanced distribution, cold storage, and supply chain operations.

The expansion of our Macon distribution center is part of our focus on continuous improvement and commitment to customer service. This expansion will allow us to ship our complete portfolio of protein-packed brands to customers from one distribution center, while also improving team member safety and reducing our carbon footprint. It’s great news for our customers, our community, our team members and our environment.

The original Tyson Foods expansion began in 2017 and marked a major investment in Macon-Bibb County’s industrial growth. The project expanded cold storage and distribution capacity at I-75 Business Park, added new jobs, and supported a broader regional customer base.

While the facility has transitioned to NewCold, the original project remains an important part of Macon-Bibb’s economic development story. It reflects the kind of long-term industrial infrastructure that continues to attract and support major food, logistics, and distribution operations.
