Representing Macon-Bibb on the Global Stage

Note from the Executive Director

In June, I had the opportunity to represent Macon-Bibb County at the SEUS-CP Conference in New Brunswick, Canada. This annual gathering brings together business-minded leaders from six Southeastern U.S. states and six Canadian provinces to focus on trade, investment, and economic development.

Georgia’s delegation, led by Governor Brian Kemp, was joined by First Lady Marty Kemp, GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson, Deputy Commissioner of International Trade Lizann Grupalo, and International Relations Manager Laura Greenway. While they were there to promote the entire state, my job was to make sure Macon-Bibb had a strong presence and a clear voice at the table.

Spotlighting Our Competitive Edge in Workforce and Infrastructure

We have the workforce, location, infrastructure, and proven track record to compete—and win—on the global stage. And that’s exactly what I went to spotlight.

Irving Consumer Products: A Model for International Partnership

One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the headquarters of Irving Consumer Products alongside the Governor, First Lady, and our state partners. Irving has become one of our most valued international partners. Since 2017, they’ve invested more than $1.5 billion in our community, including a recent $600 million expansion that’s adding 100 new jobs at their Irving Tissue facility in Macon.

This visit was more than symbolic. It was an opportunity to express gratitude and reaffirm our commitment to supporting Irving’s ongoing growth. Because at MBCIA, we don’t just land projects—we build lasting partnerships.

Global Companies Invest in Macon-Bibb for the Long Term

I’m incredibly proud to represent Macon-Bibb on the global stage. Our community continues to earn the trust of world-class companies—from Canadian leaders like Irving to long-standing Japanese partners, including YKK USA, YKK AP, and Nichiha, as well as South Korea’s Kumho Tire.

These companies continue to choose Macon-Bibb because we consistently show up, follow through, and deliver results.

Building Trust, Earning Investment, and Creating Jobs

As global competition for investment intensifies, these relationships will matter more than ever. By staying engaged and building trust, we’re not just chasing opportunity—we’re bringing it home.
