MACON, Ga., Dec. 18, 2024 The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) hosted community leaders for  an end-of-year celebration at the MBCIA office today to announce over $1 billion in investments made this year in Macon-Bibb County.  

“It has been an honor to collaborate with industry leaders and project managers to reach this incredible milestone,” said Chairman Robby Fountain of MBCIA. “Every industry that calls Macon home is a valued part of our community, and we are proud to see each one thrive here. This $1 billion investment milestone is a testament to their success and unwavering dedication, which fuels our continued growth and prosperity. To the industries committed to Macon-Bibb County, thank you. Your dedication makes Macon a premier destination for business and a place where more industries are choosing to operate every day. 

Beyond the recently announced Irving Tissue expansion, numerous industries celebrated milestones within the community. YKK USA celebrated 50 years of operation in Macon, First Quality Baby Products announced a $418 million expansion, and Embraer reaffirmed its commitment to Macon by signing another 15-year lease.  

“These industries’ deep commitment and dedication to Macon-Bibb County is what makes milestones like these possible,” said Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller. “This dedication is what leads to the retention and new growth within our county, making Macon THE  best city in Georgia to do business. Thank you for all the hard work that led to this major investment and for your commitment to growing Macon-Bibb County!”

At the event, MBCIA also celebrated the continued partnership between the MBCIA, the Bibb County School District and Macon-Bibb County. Superintendent of Bibb County Schools, Dan Sims accepted a $1,941,643 check on behalf of the school district and Mayor Lester Miller accepted a $1,929,580 check on behalf of the county .

These checks were presented on behalf of Macon-Bibb County’s PILOT (Payment In Lieu Of Taxes) Program, through which Macon industries choose to reinvest in the development and education within the county.
