MBCIA Recognition
AEDO Reaccreditation – International Economic Development Council
The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority earned reaccreditation as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO) through the International Economic Development Council. Fewer than 100 economic development organizations worldwide hold this distinction. The award recognizes high standards in governance, transparency, and measurable impact on local communities.
ONPPI Economic Steward Award
The MBCIA received the 2025 Economic Steward Award from the Ocmulgee National Park and Preserve Initiative (ONPPI) for leading innovative, sustainable partnerships that protect the Ocmulgee Corridor’s natural beauty and cultural assets. Top 10 Metro City – Site Selection Magazine
Site Selection Magazine ranked Macon-Bibb among its Top 10 Metro Cities for new and expanding industries in 2025. The ranking reflects strong private investment in Macon-Bibb and its reputation for economic accomplishments.

Mayor Lester Miller – Named to 100 Most Influential Georgians
Board member and Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller earned a place among Georgia Trend’s 100 Most Influential Georgians again in 2025. His leadership continues to guide a shared vision that drives regional growth. Mayor Miller’s recognition is detailed on the Macon-Bibb County website.
Dr. Cassandra Washington Recognized by the Georgia House of Representatives
The Georgia House of Representatives formally recognized board member Dr. Cassandra Washington and the Hutchings College and Career Academy for a strong record of academic excellence and career readiness. Her leadership helps strengthen pathways from the classroom to the workforce. Dr. Washington’s recognition is included in the April Authority Report.
Industry Awards
Silver Shovel Award – Area Development Magazine
Georgia received a Silver Shovel Award from Area Development in 2025, due in large part to two major expansion projects in Macon-Bibb:
- Irving Consumer Products committed more than $577 million to expand paper goods production.
- First Quality Enterprises invested $418 million to grow its hygiene and paper facility.
These projects reflect the kind of economic confidence that happens when companies know they will have the people, infrastructure, and support they need to grow right here in Macon-Bibb.
GEDA Deal of the Year – First Quality Baby Products and MBCIA
The Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA) recognized First Quality Baby Products and the MBCIA as the 2025 Large Community Deal of the Year. This expansion brings major investment and new jobs to the region. It stands out as a model for how industry, local leaders, and state partners can work together to deliver big results. MBCIA Industry of the Year: YKK AP
At the Greater Macon Chamber’s Annual Awards in November, the MBCIA named YKK AP as Macon-Bibb’s Industry of the Year. Now in its second year, this award recognizes companies that demonstrate sustained economic impact and support for community development in Macon-Bibb.
Since opening its 200,000-square-foot facility at the I-75 Business Park in January 2024, YKK AP has added more than 250 jobs and continues to expand opportunities for skilled talent in the region. The company also reached a significant benchmark in 2025: one million safe work hours logged at the facility.
MBCIA Executive Director Stephen Adams summed up the significance:
