Spring Industry Partner Luncheon

Spring has been a busy time for team MBCIA, but not without great progress and community interaction.

On April 29, the MBCIA hosted its Spring Industry Partner Luncheon (IPL), where over 32 industries networked over lunch provided by Compass Rose Cafe.

Throughout the meal, attendees observed a panel discussion which featured Mayor Lester Miller, Bibb County Schools Superintendent Dr. Dan Sims, and Bibb County Sheriff David Davis.

The IPL is a great opportunity to unite industry and community leaders. Moderated discussions are crucial in making the workforce and community in Macon-Bibb the best they can be.

This year’s topic focused on community updates, Macon-Bibb industry accomplishments, and other positive impacts in our community.

Attendees heard updates on key projects like infrastructure improvements, workforce programs, and safety and security initiatives in our community.

Our local industries are the backbone of Macon-Bibb’s economy and it’s vital we stay connected, aligned, and transparent. Opportunities like this luncheon give us a chance to share progress, listen to concerns, and work together to build a stronger future for our entire community.

Mayor Lester Miller

Thank you to each of our industry leaders and community partners who joined us for a morning of collaboration and networking, and also to the W.S. Hutchings College and Career Academy for hosting us.  We look forward to our next Industry Partner Luncheon in the fall.

Celebrating Macon-Bibb County’s Class of 2025

It’s graduation season, and the MBCIA is proud to celebrate the Class of 2025! Graduation is an exciting time, full of new opportunities. Here in Macon-Bibb, we work hard to make sure those opportunities are right here at home.

Through programs like the Community Developers Program (CD2), the MBCIA helps students build the skills they need for strong careers. Our education partners, Bibb County School District, Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC), Middle Georgia State University (MGA), Mercer University, and Wesleyan College are preparing students to take their next big step — joining the workforce.

In Macon-Bibb, we aim to prepare students to move straight from the classroom into jobs in healthcare, manufacturing, technology, and skilled trades. Thanks to a strong partnership between schools, local industries, and community leaders, our workforce pipeline is homegrown.

Congratulations to Bibb County Schools’ Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) program on an outstanding 99% graduation success rate in 2024! Under the leadership of MBCIA board member Dr. Cassandra Washington, Bibb CTAE is helping students graduate with real-world skills, career exposure, and a clear path forward. From high school to technical college and beyond, Macon-Bibb is building a workforce ready for the future.

Strong schools build strong communities. MBCIA is proud to support the programs that connect education and careers, ensuring Macon-Bibb has the talent to grow and succeed.

The future is bright — and it starts here. Congratulations to the Class of 2025!
