Key highlights from MBCIA’s July meeting included details on June industry announcements, prospect activity, industry job opportunities, property management, and marketing activities.
Brightmark will invest $680 million into its second and largest facility. In addition, it projects more than 100 jobs in engineering, maintenance, and operations to support the facility.
Dean Baldwin Painting marked the official start of operations by receiving its first aircraft, a freighter, into the four-hangar facility. The company broke ground in March 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. The facility has four hangars designed for aircraft painting, a material warehouse, an administration building, air filtration systems, and a water treatment processing plant.

Barbara Baldwin-McNulty, the CEO, welcomes the first aircraft, a B767 freighter, as it rolls into the newly constructed aircraft painting facility at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport in Macon, Georgia.
In June, MBCIA invested in our future workforce with a sponsorship of the Bibb County School District’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support Team’s Back to School Bash.
This sponsorship provides community resources and decreases barriers to education. The Executive Director’s Report showed that prospect activity is steady. There are currently 26 open projects with a potential investment of more than $500 million and more than 3,600 potential jobs.
Stephen Adams, Executive Director, was featured in a Middle Georgia CEO video about working with existing industries in Macon and attracting new businesses to the region.
MBCIA engaged with more than 100 Industry partners last month and determined the top concerns for them currently are: hiring, roads, and trash.
Monthly videos featuring Existing Industry Manager, Eleyce Coleman, are being produced in collaboration with the #maconopportunities campaign to address concerns and share relevant information with all industry partners.
This month’s video highlighted Eleyce’s second part of a three-part series on Industry hiring. As a main concern of industries, she is using creative solutions and community partnerships to fulfill these needs.
For this installment, Eleyce met with Lynn Farmer, Director of MaconWorks.com at the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, to discuss hiring needs and how to close the workforce gaps by connecting them to local industries and employers.
MBCIA also has a virtual job fair, located at mbcia.com/virtualjobfair, where all industry job links are available in one convenient location for those who need it.
