Macon, GA – Middle Georgia Freightliner-Isuzu held a grand opening to unveil their new facility to the public on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. This ribbon cutting comes four years after their original facility burned to the ground in a fire.
The new facility, located in I-75 Business Park, is 40,000 square feet and is used for service, repairs, and sales of trucks and trailers. Middle Georgia Freightliner employs 65 people and has retained each employee through the transitions over the years.
“The perseverance and dedication to show up even after devastation is what makes our community so great. The fire that happened unexpectedly was a great loss, but out of that tragedy came tremendous cooperation and an opportunity to build something better for Middle Georgia Freightliner-Isuzu and our community,” says Robby Fountain, Chairman of the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority.
Heath Wood, General Manager of Middle Georgia Freightliner, said no employee had to be released after the fire. The fire happened on a Friday, and by Monday, they were in a temporary facility waiting to serve their customers. To make this a reality, another industry, Prince Precision, heard about the accident and offered an unused part of their warehouse to Wood and his team.
“Middle Georgia Freightliner-Isuzu’s grand opening is a testament to the dedication of a family-owned business. I am glad that this small business is here, is thriving, and has grown,” said Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller. “We are a family in Macon-Bibb County, and this is one of the situations where our community came together as a family. You don’t get through hardships and grow for the better without working together as a team,”
The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority works to support our local industries. Eleyce Coleman, Existing Industry Manager, has worked with Wood and his team to support and navigate the process, while connecting the different industries together to promote success.
Middle Georgia Freightliner-Isuzu is available Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm for service.
