Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority Approves Funds for Coca-Cola Bottling Facility Expansion

MACON, Ga. – Macon-Bibb County is getting another large existing industry expansion. During this afternoon’s Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) Board Meeting, board members approved bonds for an $80 million investment in Coca-Cola Bottling Co. UNITED’s Macon, Georgia sales and distribution center.

Construction of the 260,000-square-foot expansion should begin in 2023 and is expected to generate an additional 50 jobs to their existing 190. The expansion is being added to their existing warehouse.

“Again and again, we are seeing our existing industries expanding their Macon-Bibb County locations. We are excited to see a business that has been a pillar in our community reinvest. It is a testament to the business culture we have created for our industries,” said Robby Fountain, Chairman of the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority.

“We are proud of Coca-Cola’s 120-year history in Macon, and we are excited about the potential of this investment and its benefits to our associates, customers, consumers, and local communities throughout Macon and Bibb County,” said Eddie Cummins, Macon Coca-Cola Sales Center Manager. “The consideration of this expansion speaks to our commitment to the state of Georgia and providing high-quality service for years to come. We look forward to working with both state and local community stakeholders as we move forward in this process.”

“Coca-Cola Bottling Co. UNITED has a history of investing in our community. Most recently, beginning in July 2021, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. UNITED is partnering with Central Georgia Technical College and the Hutchings College and Career Academy to create pathways that generate college and career-ready graduates,” says Lester Miller, Macon-Bibb County Mayor. “By not only investing in their workers and facility, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. UNITED is working to create opportunities for the next generation of Macon citizens. Having industries that not only create jobs, but invest in the citizens is pivotal to our growth and continued success as a community.”
